Since Medical Costs are out of control, profits are obscene, and they are ruining people, how about Regulation?

Shouldn't the Government come in and regulate medical billing? Not take over medicine, but keep the abuse that is so rampant down? Medical providers are screwing us worse than banks or anyone else. They are not only getting away with cheating medicare to the value of more than 1/3 of the total payout, but they also over bill patients routinely. Many times they bill, then bill again and ruin your credit if you don't pay the added bill which is for NOTHING they did.





Why is nothing done about this (I think it's because they pay off politicians like the milk lobby and banking industry does) and shouldn't these scum bags be regulated better?Since Medical Costs are out of control, profits are obscene, and they are ruining people, how about Regulation?
I posted some questions about this topic. Yes, the government will have to regulate them or their system will crash, one of the two. Idiots with MBAs or worse, hospital economics degrees have ruined it all. It's the same thinking that is destroying movie theaters and pro sports.





The thinking is, ';You have a captive audience, therefore, you must extort them.';





They're having a grand old time in hospitals at the expense of many bankrupt patients. I think when the health care system crashes and all the superfluous personnel are fired and costs are cut, the economy and health care will get even worse. Americans will wish they had Canadian or English health care. Our doctors and nurses will not be prepared.





EDIT: Regulation is considered socialism, in a way. If the government has to pay for health care, the game is up. Everything will change and hospitals will have to experience fiscal reality. How about this - if you think doctors and medical professionals are so overpaid, why don't YOU become a doctor and open up your own practice with more reasonable billing?





The truth is, medical expenses are out of control due to government regulation and ridiculous lawsuits. Get the government out of the way.
Government Regulations of Medical systems and Socialized Medicene do not have a very good track record im most countries that employ it. The only place I saw it work was in the country of Oman. 95% of the population lived in poverty. The US currently has too much money and lobbist to even consider such a system. However, Government Intervention could help the existing system.
Docs have the best and one of the oldest unions in the world, they stick together like no other group. Ever hear of one doc testifying agains another doc about malpractice? They lobby better than any other group and contribute tons of money, them and the drug and hospital groups. That is the main reason we have no universal healthcare.

i once went to the doctor and just had a little blood work done and got a pain reliever shot and the bill was over $5,000 are they serious? i am not paying that one

The government gets involved... things get worse. More red tape, more people on the payroll, more more more. Less govt. intervention will fix EVERYTHING.
